Your appointment

However you choose to contact us we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • by text.

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means the doctor or nurse can help you sooner.

To cancel your appointment:

We work with other local GP practices to provide you with help outside of practice opening hours. We are able to offer GP and nurse appointments between 6.30pm and 8pm on weekdays, 8am and 2.15pm on Saturdays and 9am and 12pm on Sundays plus Bank Holidays at Sollershott Surgery in Letchworth.

To arrange one of these evening, weekend or bank holiday appointments please speak to our practice reception team.

Since the 31st of January 2024 people with seven common aliments can go into a pharmacy to be assessed, rather than making an appointment with their GP.

Under the Pharmacy First scheme, pharmacists in England can carry out consultations and issue antibiotics when appropriate for the following aliments:

  • Sinusitis (Adults and children aged 12 years and over)
  • Sore throat (Adults and children aged 5 years and over)
  • Earache (Children and young adults aged 1 year to 17 years)
  • Infected insect bite (Adults and Children 1 year and over)
  • Impetigo (Adults and Children 1 year and over)
  • Shingles (Adults 18 years and over)
  • Urinary tract infection -UTI – (Women aged 16 – 64 years) – please note it is now standard procedure for any Nevells Road patient that meets this critiera who has not had a UTI in the past 3 months, they will always be directed to the pharmacy.

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

Local pharmacies can provide expert, confidential health advice and treatment for a range of common illnesses, allergies, aches and pains and other complaints. Many are open evenings and weekends. Visit the NHS website to ‘Find a Pharmacy‘ near you.

There is an urgent treatment centre at The New QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City which is open every day from 9am to 8pm and can help you with a range of minor illnesses and injuries. This is for urgent but not life-threatening situations only. The NHS website has more information about when to visit urgent treatment centres (urgent care services)

Please tell us:

  • If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond.
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone or face-to-face.
  • If you need an interpreter.
  • If you need a chaperone.
  • If you have any other access or communication needs.

If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need.To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you phone the practice as soon after 8am as possible on 01462 414839.
